This is the first edition of the manual that has been designed for the undergraduate students (4th Professional BVSc & AH). This manual is a compilation of practical aspects of veterinary obstetrics as per the new syllabus of the Veterinary Council of India (MSVE-2016). We have included all the practical aspects of veterinary obstetrics as per the MSVE-2016. It covers the basic aspects of veterinary obstetrics in a simplified manner for better understanding of students in order to pass their examinations. This manual also covers the clinical aspects of veterinary obstetrics, such as pelvimetry, pregnancy diagnosis, signs of parturition, approaches to obstetrical cases, obstetrical anaesthesia, obstetrical instruments and equipments, approaches to obstetrical cases, forceps delivery, fetotomy operations, maternal causes of dystocia, caesarean section, and handling of prolapse in farm and pet animals. It will make the veterinary obstetrician sound both technically and scientifically competent. All chapters are concise and have been explained with various photographs in a simple and lucrative way. The major concepts of the chapter have been summarised in tables. Emphasis has been given on the procedure of the practical and written in bullets instead of narrative. The authors have also made an effort to include advanced scientific information on veterinary obstetrics. This manual comprises 20 chapters. In the beginning, index pages were given for the evaluation of the students by the course teachers or instructors of the practical class.
